At the last two PDC Summits, the presenters offered insight into the research performed to alter the demand factors for plug loads and cord-connected medical equipment. The research focused on changing the National Electrical Code demand factors with the goal of allowing smaller electrical systems to aid in construction cost savings. They are working with ASHE and the NFPA Healthcare Section to finalize deployment of this research into the NEC and will provide updates on this topic.
