Deciphering the NFPA 101®: Life Safety Code® (2012 edition) is an intricate process. This course will provide you and your team with the information and resources you need to manage your facility’s life safety program. Bill Koffel, PE, FSFPE, is president of Koffel Associates, a fire protection and life safety engineering design and consulting firm, and he is recognized as an expert in the fire protection and life safety aspects of codes and standards. Koffel Associates, headquartered in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area, provides consulting, engineering design and construction administration, codes and standards development, seminar development and training, product testing and evaluation/representation, and litigation support to public and private clients worldwide. Bill remains active in the development process of the field’s governing codes, standards and design guidelines including the International Code Council (ICC), NFPA, Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and Underwriters Laboratory (UL). As a former code official with the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, he has conducted licensure, certification, and accreditation surveys of various health care facilities. Bill serves on numerous NFPA technical committees, including the Life Safety Technical Committee on Health Care Occupancies, and serves as the chair of the Life Safety Technical Correlating Committee.

Registration fees, less a $75 cancellation fee, are refundable if written notice is received five working days prior to the program. Membership payment to renew/join ASHE is not refundable nor transferable. Please email a cancellation request to ASHE at ashe@aha.org or call 312-422-3800. Registrants unable to attend may send an alternate. If the alternate is not a member, the non-member fee will be applied. Transferring is subject to availability. No on-site substitutions will be allowed. ASHE reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the program due to insufficient registration.

The course has been updated to reflect the 2012 edition, which CMS required beginning in November of 2016. *If you are attending ASHE Academy, you will be loaned NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code®, 2012 edition, which will need to be returned to ASHE at the end of the program. The Code Books WILL NOT be available for purchase on site. You are encouraged to bring your own copy to use during the seminar.
