Beebe Healthcare receives award for excellence in facility management

CHICAGO –Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware, is the 2014 recipient of the Excellence in Health Care Facility Management award from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association.

The award, sponsored by Trane, recognizes an individual or facility management department that has implemented new or innovative programs or processes. The Environment of Care Committee at Beebe Healthcare worked to develop a comprehensive spreadsheet tool that tracked compliance information during environmental tours. The tool includes 53 questions and incorporates 2014 National Patient Safety Goals. “This process is a result of the dedication of our facilities team in our journey to become a high reliability organization,” said Jeffery M. Fried, FACHE, President and CEO of Beebe Healthcare.

The award will be presented at ASHE’s Leadership Institute in Arizona later this month.

The team involved in the project includes:

  • Sandy McCurdy, CHFM, Manager of Facilities, Beebe Healthcare
  • Jerry Owens, CHFM, CHSP, Corporate Safety Officer, Beebe Healthcare
  • Jim Keyzer, CHFM, CHSP, Director of Facilities, Beebe Healthcare
