The AHA’s American Society for Health Care Engineering announced July 27 that Geisinger is the winner of its 2026 Excellence in Health Care Facility Management Award. Officials from the Danville, Pa.-based health system will be recognized during ASHE’s Health Care Facilities Innovation Conference, which will be held Aug. 2-5 in Minneapolis.

Since 2016, Geisinger’s comprehensive, monitoring-based commissioning program has completed 16 retro-commissioning and optimization initiatives in its hospitals, ambulatory facilities and central utility plants, saving more than $4.05 million in operating costs. The program was created to improve system performance, enhance clinical environments and establish an analytics-informed approach to facilities management. The program has also optimized HVAC system performance and reliability.
