FGI Opens Comment Period for Draft Emergency Conditions Guidelines
The Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) has released a white paper titled “Guidance for Designing Health and Residential Care Facilities that Respond and Adapt to Emergency Conditions,” which can be accessed at fgiguidelines.org/fgi-releases-emergency-conditions-white-paper. The paper includes chapters associated with:
- Risk assessments
- Surge capacity considerations
- Alternate care sites
- Resiliency
- Renovation and future facility design
- Small and/or rural health care facilities
- Emergency preparedness in residential settings
The final section of the paper includes the draft of the proposed Guidelines for Emergency Conditions in Health and Residential Care Facilities. The emergency conditions guidelines are open for comment now through June 30, 2021. All comments will go before the FGI steering committee of the Emergency Conditions Committee.
