Description
Health care bathroom design decisions affect far more than aesthetics. From regulatory compliance and infection control to maintenance workload and patient safety, poorly planned bathing environments can introduce significant operational risk.
In partnership with Bestbath, this session explores the practical design considerations that influence long-term performance in health care bathrooms. Attendees will review common compliance breakdowns, the needs of key stakeholders such as nursing, maintenance, and infection control teams, and the impact of bariatric and aging patient populations on bathroom planning.
The discussion will also examine how construction context, material selection, and system design influence maintenance burden, water containment, and lifecycle durability. Participants will gain a practical framework for evaluating bathroom design decisions that support safer patient environments, simplify maintenance, and help health care facilities reduce operational risk.
Learning Outcomes
- Identify common compliance and execution gaps that introduce risk in health care bathroom design and installation.
- Evaluate bathing environment decisions based on stakeholder needs, infection control considerations, and maintenance impact.
- Apply design strategies that support patient safety, reduce maintenance burden, and improve long-term durability in health care facilities.
Speakers
