ELECTION FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To make your voting experience easier, on Monday, July 22, you will receive an email from Association Elections with a direct link to the elections website. This will be your unique voting link. Once you vote, the link will be disabled.

How do I vote online?
Beginning Friday, July 19, you can follow the instructions below to cast your vote.

  1. Log in to the election system by either 1) clicking the “Vote Now” link in the email you will be receiving from our election management company AssociationElections.com. or 2) go to https://ballot.associationelections.com/ashe_election_portal.html and enter your ASHE member ID and last name.

  2. Review each candidate’s profile. Select your candidate, scroll to the bottom of the page to review your selections, and then click the green “Submit your Vote” button to proceed.

  3. In addition, members in Regions 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10 will vote for their Regional Director. On each page, once you click “Submit your Vote”, your selections for that page will be submitted and you will not be allowed to make any changes.

  4. This year, you will also be able to vote on a proposed change to the Board Member Election and Terms policy.  You can review the change on the ballot site.
  5. You will have the option to print a receipt for your cast vote.

How do I see a candidate’s information?
Click on the links below each of the candidate’s names. The candidate information will be displayed on the right side of the screen. Candidate information will be available through the election website once the election opens on Friday, July 19, 2019.

Why did I receive an error message when I entered my number?
If you receive an error message that says, “The ID you entered is incorrect,” please check your membership number and reenter it. If applicable, be sure to include all leading zeros in your ID number.

If you receive an error message that says, “A vote has already been recorded for this membership number,” that means that you have already voted. You cannot vote more than once.

Am I eligible to vote?
You are eligible to vote if you are an active, dues-paying Professional, Associate, Positional (e.g., VA), Lifetime, or Retired member. (Your ASHE membership must be confirmed as of Monday, July 1, 2019 for you to be eligible to vote.)

Please enter your 10-digit ASHE membership number (including any leading zeros).

Your membership ID number can be found on the e-mail or letter that was sent to you. Your password is your last name (e.g., John Smith’s password would be Smith). The password is not case-sensitive.

I cannot access the online ballot. How do I vote?
If for any reason, you are unable to vote online, you can vote by mail using a paper ballot. The deadline to request a ballot is Monday, July 22, 2019. Paper ballots must be received by Friday, August 2, 2019.

PLEASE NOTE: Once you elect to vote by paper ballot, your access to online voting will be removed.

How many candidates can I vote for?
You may select only one (1) Associate Member Board Representative candidate. Members in Regions 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10 will also vote for their Regional Board Member.

Will I get a chance to review my selections?
Yes, at the bottom of each page of the ballot you can review your selections for that page. Once you hit “Submit your Vote," your vote for that page is cast and cannot be changed.

Is my ballot confidential?
Yes. ASHE staff members do not have access to online voting records. Paper ballots, however, are manually entered into the online system by the Elections Secretary. A third-party contractor, Association Elections, then reviews and confirms the ballots and independently tallies the winners. The ASHE staff does not have access to voting trends during the voting cycle.

When does voting close?
Online voting closes at 11:59 p.m. (CT) Monday, August 5, 2019. Paper ballots must be received by Friday, August 2, 2019.

When will the results be announced?
The results of the ASHE election will be communicated to the membership in the August 13, 2019 issue of the HFM Insider.
