Description

Join us for a discussion of the vital role of inspection, testing and maintenance documentation in ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance. We'll discuss how documentation reflects standards of compliance, organization and accessibility, and its crucial role in regulatory surveys and potential litigation. This presentation will explore the four levels of control in survey preparation, from documentation to mechanical areas and spaces above and below the ceiling grid.

We'll detail the essential steps hospitals should take when modifying maintenance schedules for their facilities or medical equipment. This involves creating comprehensive policies and procedures and diligently maintaining documentation to support an alternate equipment management (AEM) program. Strict adherence to established AEM activities and frequencies is paramount for ensuring the effectiveness and reliability of maintenance protocols.

This post-conference session is not specific to Accreditation Commission for Health Care standards, but rather provides useful information and guidance that can be applied to an organization using any accrediting body.

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Explain the significance of aligning inspection, testing and maintenance documentation with regulatory standards to ensure patient safety and compliance.
  • Detail the four levels of control in survey preparation and discuss strategies for maintaining compliant and professional documentation across different areas of health care facilities.
  • Discuss the importance of developing policies and procedures for alternate equipment management (AEM) programs in hospitals and the significance of maintaining thorough documentation to support these programs.
  • Summarize the essential activities and frequencies involved in AEM programs and explain how hospitals can adhere strictly to these protocols to ensure the optimal maintenance of their facilities and medical equipment.

This post-con event will be at the Anaheim Marriott (700 W Convention Way, Anaheim, CA 92802) next door to the convention center.
