Dear Colleague,
Everything we do in our facilities touches each person
who walks through the doors. We work as a team
with our staff, and day-in and day-out we do
whatever it takes to keep the physical environment
operational. We are pivotal to the creation and
maintenance of healing environments that support safe,
high-quality patient care amidst the changes in our health care system.
No matter who we are, where we work, or who we work for, change is
inevitable; it is something we cannot avoid. Instead of fearing and
resisting change, this year's conference will give you the tools and
resources you need to embrace change and lead through it.
It was with these thoughts in mind that the 2012 Annual Conference Planning Task Force came together to identify the content for this year's meeting. Representing a variety of disciplines and organizations, the task force members came together with one goal-to develop an educational experience that addresses today's issues while preparing you to meet the challenges of the future. I hope you will be able to join us at the 49th ASHE Annual Conference, July 15-18, in San Antonio for three days of education, professional growth, and networking. Whether you are new to the field or an experienced health care facility management professional, the Annual Conference offers programming for everyone. Gain important knowledge and insights that will increase your value to your facility as you learn how to streamline your processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies to optimize the health care physical environment.
Please, take a few moments to review the information in this brochure, and I know you will see the Annual Conference is truly an event you must attend. If you need help formulating your travel request, please go to the ASHE Annual Conference website at www.asheannual.org and review the Justification Toolkit. The information posted there was developed to help you communicate the value of attending the conference when you request funding for your registration and travel. With this expert advice, pre-conference justification documents, and post-conference reporting templates, your supervisor will appreciate the investment made in your training and development and its contribution to your facility's success.
I look forward to seeing you at this year's conference and to accessing the knowledge and insights we need to increase our value to our facilities.
Sincerely,

Jeff Arthurs, CHFM, CHSP, FASHE
2012 ASHE President
