Roofing, Basics and Beyond

Rajendra (Raj) Shah, PE, MBA, BSME, CHFM, SASHE, Director-Design and Facilities Management

Summary
This document is focused on facilities executives; maintenance staff, designers, as well as installers. This document describes the search, selection, installation, inspection, and maintenance of a roof for any facility manager with a minimum background in roofing. Purchasing a roof is an expensive long term investment and life cycle costing is very important. Though this document has mentioned several common type products and technologies, the diversity of roof types, combined with a history of roofing-related problems in a newer technological environment requires detailed study for a specific product.
