Join NFPA by December 7, 2016 to be eligible to vote on important changes to NFPA 99 and NFPA 101
The NFPA Conference and Technical Meeting will be held June 4–7, 2017, at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. At these technical meetings, code changes are brought up for a vote. The 2017 meeting is especially important because changes to NFPA 99 and NFPA 101 will be voted on during the same code development cycle.
One of the provisions voted on in 2004 dealt with wet locations. ASHE testified against the new provision to make all operating rooms (new and existing) wet locations unless a risk assessment is performed. Unfortunately, we lost that vote as only a handful of people were there to testify and, more importantly, vote.
Take these 3 steps and be ready to vote in 2017:
- You must become an NFPA member by Wednesday, December 7.
- Plan to attend the meeting and speak with your manager about getting support to attend.
- Fill out this form to let ASHE know you are planning to attend.
Please note: Full conference registration is not required to vote. Voting will only take place during the Technical Meeting on June 7.
