Managing Joint Commission Compliance in the Physical Environment

Compliance with The Joint Commission Standards in the Physical Environment

Don't miss your only opportunity to attend the only program in the Midwest this year.

Conflicting codes, consultants recommending added expenses, and a fear of loss of accreditation can cause confusion and frustration when Joint Commission accreditation is involved. ASHE knows this and has developed this education program, which looks at the standards as management tool that will enable you to comply without over complying while providing patients, staff, and visitors with a safe and functional physical environment that supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.

By taking a deep-dive into the current Joint Commission Environment of Care®, Life Safety and Emergency Management standards, you will understand the relationship of these various standards and their effect on the physical environment. As common Joint Commission findings are presented and discussed, you will develop the tools and strategies you need to demonstrate and maintain compliance.

By attending this program, you will gain the information and knowledge that will enable you to:

  • Evaluate your health care facility's compliance with the Joint Commission Environment of Care, Life Safety and Emergency Management standards.
  • Develop a system, based on priority, for routine monitoring of compliance. /li>
  • Create management plans for managing aspects of the physical environment using risk assessment principles.
  • Implement and manage interim life safety measures.
  • Develop an emergency operations plan using a hazard vulnerability analysis.
  • Establish an effective maintenance management program for medical equipment and utilities.
