Workplace Violence – Best Practices for the Worst Case

Tuesday, January 17
2-3 p.m. CT

Locations that were once considered safe havens—such as schools, places of worship, and health care facilities—are not immune to today’s acts of violence. This session explores the unique risks in health care facilities, emergency rooms, mental health services, and other treatment facilities and addresses preparedness through operations and design. The session will cover ways that the external and internal environment can be used to mitigate risk, tools that are available to help, and standards and guidelines aimed at preventing violence.

The Centers for Medicaid & Medicare (CMS) adopted the 2012 Life Safety Code® last year and has also published revised K-Tags. To mirror the new CMS Conditions of Participation, the Joint Commission has created more than 75 new or modified Elements of Performance. This webinar—the first in a series of three—will cover the intent behind the new and modified EPs and will help guide you through the new regulations.

Speaker: George Mills, MBA, FASHE, CHFM, CEM, CHSP, The Joint Commission
