Tom has forty years experience in healthcare facilities management including responsibilities for plant operations, design and construction, energy management, clinical engineering, and safety management. Currently, Tom works with MSL Healthcare Partners providing consultation services for Facilities Consulting, Environment of Care, Emergency Management and Construction Risk.
Prior to joining MSL, Tom was the Corporate Director of Facilities for Southern Illinois Healthcare - a three hospital system. Since founding the Southern Illinois Chapter for Healthcare Engineering in 1980, Tom has been active in promoting the field of healthcare facilities management. He serves as a faculty member for the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association and teaches the Certified Healthcare Facility Management (CHFM) exam review course.
Tom has served on various ASHE committees including Education, Personal Recognition and Career Development, and Healthcare Construction Certification. He served on the Board of the AHA Certification center representing the Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) professionals and served on the ASHE Board of Directors representing ASHE members in Region 5 (Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois). Tom was the recipient of the ASHE Crystal Eagle award in 2011 for his contribution to ASHE and the health care engineering and facility management industry.
