St. Jude Medical Center Northwest Tower Addition

The Northwest Tower Replacement Hospital is the second phase of St. Jude medical Center's Master Plan, which addresses seismic upgrades and campus modernization. The project began as a performance-based strategic planning process to reassess and modify the original master plan. the project team them moved into a collaborative team environment with St. Joseph Health System, TAYLOR and McCarthy Construction, to explore options of feasibility, design and economics. Expanding the project team to a dynamic "Integrated Delivery" design-build format using BIM, the project continued, resulting in a 200,000 SF, 4-level Northwest Tower. The program includes two 60-bed Medical/Surgical floors, Surgery with 14 OR's, Pharmacy, SPD, Dietary, and shell space for Imaging. The project also incorporates evidence-based strategies for patient services to reduce stress, lentth of stay, and communicaion between caregivers and patients. These strategies not only provide a healing environment, but also support St. Joseph's commitment to dignity, the human spirit, and creating healthy communities.
