The new Swedish Orthopedic lnstitute consolidates all orthopedic resources including presurgical education and training, surgery, in-patient care and medical offices into one state-of-the-art facility designed for the most fulfilling patient experience. lt is one of the largest dedicated orthopedic care facilities in the country.
The 11-story, 372,000 sf facility is comprised of 84 new inpatient beds, 10 dedicated orthopedic operating rooms, a dedicated sterile-processing area, l5 flexible pre-operative/recovery beds, 13 post-anesthesia care-unit beds, an outpatient pharmacy, a pre-admission area, conference rooms and a cafe.
The design represents a transparent model of healthcare, revealing to both patients and the community the transformative process of healing. Through daylight, views and a sequence of outdoor spaces providing a connection to nature, art and community, the project strives to transform the Swedish campus into an open and inviting healthcare community.

Cleveland clinic, Miller Pavilion and Glickman urology and Kidney lnstitute
Cleveland, OH
Over the last decade, the nation's top-ranked Heart Hospital and no. 2 ranked Urological and Kidney lnstitute have experienced unprecedented growth and required new facilities in order to continue their commitment to top quality, innovative, patient-centered care.
The heart center, previously spread throughout the campus, is now consolidated in the new 10-story Miller Pavilion. This co-location promotes increased interaction and integration among specialties. Glickman Tower houses the Urological and Kidney lnstitute and provides exam and procedure space as well as a state-of-the-art 21-bed dialysis unit.
Both facilities wanted to create an institutional image that matches Cleveland Clinic's world renowned brand, while still focusing on flexibility and adaptability for future technologies, and maximizing operational efficiencies within their new "organ institutes" model. The 1,307,000 sf expansion creates a new front door for the hospital and illustrates a renewed commitment to research, medical education, and community service.
