Capitol Health System's 925-000-square-foot Mercer Hospital located on an 80-acre site outside of Trenton will allow the healthcare provider to serve a suburban market while continuing operations in its existing urban locations. The 223-bed hospital will continue Capital Health System's emphasis on quality care offering centers of excellence in maternal/child health, oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, neurosciences and infectious diseases, The facility is incorporating the latest in healing patient care with high-tech capabilities for today and the future as well as the highest level of patient and staff safety, in order to make this hospital a beacon of care, hope and aspiration for all who work and take haven in it.

Children's Hospital of Birmingham
Birmingham, AL
Children's Hospital System provides pediatric healthcare for Birmingham and the surrounding regions. CHS is planning a major expansion of core diagnostic treatment services as well as inpatient beds. The new 750,000 square foot, 12 story tower will provide a new Main Entrance, Emergency, Surgery, Imaging, Cardiac Services and 356 inpatient beds.
The design concept began as an exploration of connecting the new hospital literally and figuratively to the fabric of the city and region. Dendritic and arterial imagery inspired the design of the curvilinear lobby and bridges connecting to the existing children's hospital and parking structure. The main entry forms a visual tie to the 17th street corridor, the Railroad Park and ultimately downtown Birmingham. The orientation of the bed tower permits all the patient rooms to visually connect to either the central business district or Red Mountain, a landmark of Birmingham. The design combines a variety of glass types that gradate from opaque to vision and incorporates vertical color accents to emphasize the individual patient rooms.
