St. John’s Hospital Patient Tower

The new 300-bed Patient Tower is the central element of a $450 million master plan to renew this tertiary campus serving southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. The Tower creates a new main entrance and signature image for the campus.
Consideration of market competitiveness, nursing efficiency and capital use effectiveness factored into the decision to create two nursing units per floor, with 2/3 of the rooms private and 1/3 with sufficient depth and technology for semiprivate flex. A traditional central nurse work area, preferred by the users, was augmented with state-of-the-art distributed information technologies.
