Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Expansion and Renovation
The first phase of the long range master plan at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital is now being implemented. Wilmot/Sanz has designed a five-story expansion to the hospital that will add 90 medical surgical beds, 48 post-partum beds, and 3 bassinet NICU stations.
On the lower level, a 20 O.R. surgical suite will consolidate surgical services in the hospital. The project also includes an addition to the Emergency Department and a two-story main entrance atrium. Surgical services support and a new sterile processing department are located on the basement level below surgery.
With private patient rooms, a staff/patient care core absent the traditional nurse station and residentially appointed family spaces, the expansion follows the Planetree model of patient-focused care. It incorporates design elements that nurture patients and staff, includes families in the care delivery process, and creates a physical environment that facilitates healing.
