University Medical Center, Trauma Center, & Diamond Children’s Medical Center

University Medical Center called upon NTD Architecture to design both a Trauma Center and the Diamond Children’s Medical Center.
Diamond Children’s Medical Center will feature a 36-bed NICU, a 36-room Medical/Surgical unit, a 20-room Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with six flex beds, a 12-room Hematology/Oncology unit, and a six-room Bone Marrow Transplant unit. Both the NICU and Medical/Surgical unit have been designed to accommodate future growth.
The new Tower will house a 61-bed ED, two 20-bed ICUs, two 24-bed Medical/Surgical units, and a two-stop heliport that is also designed to support one Black Hawk helicopter. Located on the first floor of the tower, the ED will feature a 7-bed Trauma unit and a 16-bed Clinical Decision unit in addition to the 61 ED beds. A universal room design will allow for flexibility and efficiency. By keeping design features consistent, staff will be able to better navigate throughout patient rooms.
