Orange City Area Health System

Several years ago, Orange City Hospital leadership made bold decision to reinvent the organization as regional healthcare provider. To accomplish this, they needed new facility that would allow them to expand and retool their operations. Their vision of new regional healthcare campus has come to fruition with significant help from the community.
The hospital planning is geared toward efficiency, flexibility and expansion. In particular, the integrated clinic features standardized patient rooms and offices for easy conversion and expansion. Patient privacy and dignity is supported throughout the facility by separating public and staff/patient circulation.
The facility is designed to reflect the architecture and culture of the local community; vernacular structures and idyllic surroundings provided inspiration for the facility’s design. The experience of the family was considered throughout the design process; amenities include “family center” and unique skylit chapel reflecting the community’s deep spirituality.
Saint Clare’s Hospital and Marshfield Clinic

Perched on a hill overlooking the Wisconsin River Valley, this project consolidates two of the region’s largest health care providers — Ministry Healthcare and Marshfield Clinic onto single, integrated healthcare campus. HGA directed land utilization, site planning, master planning, and programming, as well as led architectural design for the 104bed, 300,000 sf hospital, 60,000 sf medical office building, and 80,000 sf group practice clinic.
Flexibility is at the core of the new complex. To meet future growth needs, the plan organizes such fixed spaces as mechanical, circulation and other support elements onto consolidated spine. Flexible “space fields” connect to the spine to house the various departments, allowing them to adapt and grow over time. Future additions can be added to the fixed core without disrupting major circulation, points of entry, or other ongoing services.
This integrated design with shared spaces maximizes staff efficiencies to enhance patient care.
