Tampa General Hospital
Tampa General Hospital added a five level, 364,000 square foot addition to its facility located on the northern tip of Davis Island in Tampa, Fla. The new Bayshore Pavilion is study in healthcare facility flexibility. Planners included functional efficiencies to aid in longterm agility, fluctuation in patient volume and alternate operational patterns for disaster response. Universal labs in the vascular center accommodate both cardiology and radiology functions. An openended design accommodates any future lab additions and allows for retasking with equipment upgrades. The vascular center and emergency department were designed to handle spikes in patient census in the event of disaster. All ED exam rooms are universal and include two headwalls. Medical gas outlets in corridors and waiting rooms allow for even more patients. Additionally, the ICU is constructed as single unit, allowing Tampa General to divide according to its present and future needs.
