Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Location S Research Building
The Location S Research Building at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital opened in November 2007. The building is 11 stories and contains 7 floors of wet/dry labs and 3 floors of dry labs that are convertible to wet/dry labs in the future. The first floor contains cafeteria, two large meeting rooms and offices. The basement has 15,000 s.f. data center to serve the whole hospital campus and the research complex. The floor layouts facilitate thematic research so that different departments can colocate and engage in related research. Design features encourage interaction between the researchers. Interconnecting stairs join two floors into neighborhoods with break area and kitchenettes to encourage mixing. There are also informal meeting areas along the central circulation route, as well as centralized conference rooms. The building supports translational research in the academic environment of the hospital, the research center and the University of Cincinnati.
