Program Description:
The world of emergency management has “exploded” since 9-11 and the natural disasters of hurricanes and wildfires.  The emphasis on maintaining and improving healthcare emergency management programs to keep pace with the changes in federal, local and accrediting agencies has risen significantly.  This program will explore these standards and identify tactics to help organizations be compliant with expectations and more importantly, be available to support patient care in our time of crisis.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the current and proposed emergency management standards according to The Joint Commission.
  2. Describe tactics to be successful in meeting emergency management standards.
  3. Identify how state standards, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and National Incident Management System interlink with hospital emergency management standards.
