Infection Control Program Faculty
Tim Adams, CHFM, SASHE is the Director of Member Professional Development for the American Society for Healthcare Engineering working in the areas of advocacy, code and standard compliance and education. Prior to joining the ASHE Staff, Tim spent over 20 years working in and with hospitals in the areas of Clinical Engineering and Facilities Management, the last 15 years with Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Indiana. He is a long term faculty member for ASHE educational programs and is a frequent speaker at ASHE and other regional and national conferences.
Tim is a Past President of the Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering (ISHE) and the Indiana Biomedical Society (IBS). He is a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) and a Senior ASHE Member (SASHE).
Gordon D. Burrill, P.E., SASHE is President of Teegor Consulting Inc., a consulting firm specializing in healthcare engineering and construction. He spent 13 years as a design engineer, followed by 7 years as the Director of the Engineering for a New Brunswick Health Authority before branching out to Teegor Consulting Inc. in August of 2004. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with 20 years experience in the design, construction and maintenance of healthcare. He is member of Task Groups to the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes, a member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, a member of the National Fire Protection Association’s Health Care Section, a former Council Member of the International Federation for Hospital Engineers and Past President of the Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society. Gordon is the vice-chair of the Canadian Standards Association’s Technical Committee for Health Care Facility Engineering and Physical Plant, chair of their Technical Subcommittee for Infection Control during Construction, Renovation or Maintenance of Health Care Facilities and vice-chair of their Technical Subcommittee for the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Canadian Healthcare Facilities. Steven Cutter is the Director of Bio-Medical and Facilities Engineering Services at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center located in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Responsibilities include Bio-Medical Engineering as well as all aspects of the Plant Operation, Repairs & Maintenance and in-house construction groups. He has extensive
experience in construction and renovation activity within a healthcare setting. (11/2007)
Mr. Cutter has over 31 years of experience in Healthcare Engineering and active at the State, Regional and National levels of the Healthcare Engineering Society. He is the former Newsletter Editor and creator/Manager of the website for the New England HealthCare Engineering Society. He was also a member of the founding committee that created the CHFM process.
Mr. Cutter holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management, and an MBA in Leadership from Franklin Pierce College. He is also a Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager and holds an ASHRE certification as a Healthcare Facility Design Professional.
Linda Dickey, RN, MPH, CIC is the Manager for Epidemiology & Infection Prevention at the University of California Irvine (UCI) Medical Center in Orange, California. Her responsibilities include providing both leadership and team member support throughout the organization on initiatives aimed at infection prevention. As an example, Ms. Dickey is working with the team of UCI Design & Construction, UCI Medical Center Planning & Facilities & Hensel Phelps Construction, implementing a comprehensive infection control plan for the construction of a new, seven story, 474,353 square foot university hospital. Ms. Dickey is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) and ;is serving on the American Institute of Architects/ Facility Guidelines Institute 2010 Health Guidelines Revision Committee . Leo T. Old, MS, CIH, PE, CHFM has 15+ years of experience in working with healthcare institutions on issues related to occupational safety and health and regulatory compliance. Leo obtained his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Christian Brothers University in 1993 and his Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Memphis in 2002. Leo is a certified industrial hygienist, a registered fire protection engineer and a certified healthcare facility manager. Leo served as General Safety Officer for 4 years at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) in Memphis, TN, where he was responsible for fire safety, emergency preparedness and other environmental health and safety matters. Leo served as an occupational and environmental health consultant for 9 years, including 6 years with Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. Leo currently serves as the Industrial Hygiene Officer for SJCRH, where he is responsible for the industrial hygiene, indoor air quality and hazardous materials programs. Leo regularly serves as a guest speaker at national conferences and local chapter meetings for the American Industrial Hygiene Association, and the American Society for Healthcare Engineering.
