#1 Chapter 2, Environment of Care:
Section 2.2E - Adds new therapeutic design requirements for the physical environment, such as lighting, finishes, water features, etc.


#2 - Chapter 7, Hospitals
Section 7.31.B8 - Lay-in ceilings, meeting this sections requirements, are now permitted in restricted spaces such as operating rooms if a review is performed by the medical staff and infection control.  This must be documented and the ceiling maintained.

Section 7.34.A9  -This new section stresses the requirement for mechanical system vendors to supply the hospital with operating, maintenance and preventive maintenance instruction manuals.  Also discussed is the need for training of operating personnel.

Section 7.34.D1 - Added a paragraph on the need to measure the ventilation system performance prior to the start of construction and preferably during design.

Section 7.34.D4 - In new construction operating rooms and delivery rooms shall have the air supplied by non-aspirating diffusers with a face velocity in the range of 25 to 35 fpm.  Return air shall be permitted high on the walls in addition to low level returns.

Section 7.34.E13 - This new section places restrictions on interior open water features.

Section 7.35.E6 - Establishes the requirements for electrical outlets in an LDRP as being the same as a patient room plus additional outlets for the bassinet location as required in the nursery.

Section 7.36 - A new appendix has been added on single and multiple chamber hyperbaric facilities.

Table 7.3 Filter Efficiencies
Only change was to include the new MERV ratings for filters.

Added language for lowering the water temperature in the warewasher if a chemical rinse is used.
