Biography

My name is Gary Hempeck and I am running for a second term as the ASHE Region 6 Director and I am asking for your vote.

I have been in long term and acute healthcare for over 30 years. For the last 20 years, I have worked at St. Joseph’s, a licensed 401 bed hospital in St. Paul, MN as the Director of Plant Operations. In my position, my responsibilities include the maintenance department, carpenters, painters, parking services, and construction.

I have been involved in ASHE for many years and I am currently the Region 6 Director. During my Board term, I served as Co-Chair of the Membership and Chapters Committee and am currently the Chair of the Chapter Relations committee. I am also a planning team member for the Region 6 conference that has been a successful conference for many years. I have committed to promoting the CHFM and CHC certifications in our region and have been excited to see how many new CHFM’s and CHC certifications our members have received.

I am also a member of the Twin Cities Healthcare Engineers Association (TCHEA) and I have held a variety of positions while on the TCHEA Executive Committee including Secretary, Vice President, President, and Past President. I have also served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Minnesota Healthcare Engineering Association (MHEA) where I’ve worked with the five (5) Minnesota chapters during my three (3) year term. I have also been involved with the planning of the MN Spring and Fall Conferences.

During my years in the Healthcare field, I have received the George Burton award from the TCHEA twice. This award is given in recognition for a person’s contributions to the organization. I received the Minnesota Engineer of the Year award in 2005. In 2008, I was honored with the Emerging Leader Award from ASHE and was asked to serve on the Facilities Manager Committee.

I have truly enjoyed my present term as the Region 6 Director and have had the privilege of meeting many great people. I am asking again for your vote to be the ASHE Region 6 Director for another term so I can continue my work for all of the Region 6 ASHE members. Thank you for your time and all that you do for our Healthcare industry.

Personal Letter

Dear Fellow Region 6 Members:

It is election time for the ASHE Region 6 Director and I am asking for your support and vote for second term that will allow me to continue to serve as your Region Director and to finish up my commitments. I have really enjoyed my term as the ASHE Region 6 Director. Last year I was the co-chair of the Members and Chapters Committee and this year I am the chair of the Chapters Relations Committee. I have promoted and supported the CHFM and the new CHC certification programs and I am very pleased at the number of Region 6 members that have achieved these certifications. During my term I have attended several of the committee and state conferences presented what is happening in ASHE. During these visits I met many members who are very dedicated to promoting great healthcare in their facilities.

I have over 30 years of experience in Healthcare and I am familiar with all of the issues you have to deal with daily. ASHE is here to support you in your day to day operations and I am here to support ASHE. During my time in Healthcare I have been involved in promoting my local chapter and state chapter as an officer. I have been recognized as a leader of my local chapter by receiving the George Burton award which is given to a member for their contributions and I received the Engineer of the Year award from the Minnesota Healthcare Engineering Association. I also received the Emerging Leader Award for Region 6.

Thank you for your trust in me and electing me to the Region 6 Director and I ask your vote again.

Sincerely,

Gary Hempeck, CHFM
