A Letter from Rich Umdenstock

Dear Colleague:

When it comes to our nation’s health care facilities, one size does not fit all. Beyond the basic requirements for every hospital, our facilities must be designed to accommodate the specific needs of clinical staff, support hospital operations, and bring value to the local community. The planning, design, and construction process requires understanding and input from all stakeholders. Take a moment to think about all the people who are involved in this process: staff from the health care organization, who outline what is needed in a new or renovated facility; architects, who provide the vision for the design; contractors, who bring the vision to life; and hospital administrators, who are challenged with leading this team to deliver an optimal environment for their patients and staff.

To help you meet the challenges of creating environments in which health care providers can work effectively and efficiently and patients receive quality care, I encourage you to attend the 2012 International Summit on Health Facility Planning, Design & Construction ™ (PDC). This conference will provide you with the opportunity to meet and learn from those who share your passion and your commitment to building better and safer patient care environments. No matter who you are, what you do, or where you work, the PDC Summit is the venue that brings together all those who have an interest in the PDC process in the health care environment. Year after year, the PDC Summit attracts thousands of attendees representing a variety of disciplines and professions—each with their own interests, agendas, and concerns. The conference provides the perfect blend of education and networking that enables us to build upon our strengths—knowing that by working together we can best serve our communities.

From a shift in our country’s demographics to a reimbursement system based on patient outcomes, quality of care, and patient satisfaction, health care is changing. To thrive and survive in this climate, we need to make sure we continuously look for better and more efficient ways to deliver care. As a member of the health care team, you know that through hard work and dedication we are able to come together to help achieve a society of healthy communities in which all individuals reach their highest potential for health—today, tomorrow, and for future generations.

Sincerely,
